One of the most basic and potentially largest application of these aluminum coatings is corrosion protection. Since aluminum can be sprayed onto virtually any metal whether it be aluminum, magnesium, iron or some alloy thereof using low pressure cold spray, the uses are nearly endless. I have seen this considered for both production and in-field applications. Very thin coatings down to 0.05 mm (0.002 in.) are achievable. Of course, aluminum is not the only material that can offer corrosion protection properties.
